What is SNP Genotyping by GBAS?
SNP Genotyping by Amplicon Sequencing (GBAS) is a targeted sequencing method in which specific genomic regions containing single-nucleotide polymorphisms or defined allelic variants are PCR-amplified and sequenced. Because the assay generates nucleotide-level data at each targeted site, GBAS enables precise identification of SNP genotypes and determination of allele zygosity within a single multiplexed workflow.
For breeding programs, SNP-based GBAS offers:
- Sequence-resolved SNP calls, improving confidence in variant identification
- High multiplexing capacity, allowing many loci to be genotyped simultaneously
- Flexible throughput, suitable for both marker screening and routine QC
