Expanded NSHS method enables multiple pathogen results from a single seed sample

CSP Labs is pleased to announce that we are now officially offering the NSHS dilution-plating assay, Be 4.3, for Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens (Cff). Our validation process is complete, and we have obtained NSHS accreditation for this method.

About the Cff Assay (Be 4.3)

The Be 4.3 assay was updated by NSHS in April 2025 to align with existing methods for Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. phaseolicola (Psp) and Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. phaseoli (Xap). This harmonization allows laboratories to test for all three pathogens using the same seed sample. Customers can now streamline testing for multiple important bacterial pathogens in beans through a single submission.

Meeting International Regulations

The European Union has moved toward requiring testing for Cff as part of phytosanitary certification. Results generated from our NSHS accredited Cff assay are accepted by the USDA and can be used to obtain phytosanitary certificates to fulfill EU requirements.

Supporting Customer Testing Needs

Alongside Cff accreditation, CSP Labs has expanded capacity to support upcoming fall phytosanitary bean testing. This ensures customers have access to timely and compliant testing services during peak demand periods.
