Expanded Tomato Trait GBAS Panel Now Available at CSP Labs
CSP Labs has expanded its Tomato Trait Genotyping by Amplicon Sequencing (GBAS) panel with several newly validated markers, providing breeding programs with broader coverage of important disease resistance and horticultural traits. The expanded panel builds upon the existing tomato trait offering and allows multiple markers to be evaluated through a single testing workflow.
Newly Added Markers
The following markers have recently been added to the Tomato Trait GBAS panel:
- Alternaria linariae resistance-associated QTLs (EB-5 and EB-9)
- Cladosporium fulvum (Cf-9)
- Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-lycopersici (Frl)
- Ralstonia solanacearum resistance-associated QTLs (Bwr-6 and Bwr-12)
- Tomato spotted wilt virus (Sw-5)
- Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (Ty-1/Ty-3 and Ty-3a)
These additions expand the panel’s coverage across several important disease resistance targets commonly evaluated within tomato breeding programs.
Available Markers Within the Tomato Trait Panel
The newly added markers join an existing set of tomato trait markers already available through CSP Labs, including:
- Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici (I-2 and I-3)
- Root-knot nematode resistance (Mi)
- Phytophthora infestans (Ph-2 and Ph-3)
- Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato (Pto)
- Tomato mosaic virus (Tm-2)
- Verticillium dahliae (Ve)
- Self-pruning (sp)
Supporting Tomato Breeding Programs
Marker-assisted selection allows breeders to evaluate targeted genetic traits earlier in the breeding process, helping support parental selection, breeding population advancement, and trait introgression efforts. With the addition of these newly validated markers, the expanded Tomato Trait GBAS panel provides broader coverage of important disease resistance and horticultural traits commonly evaluated within tomato breeding programs.
