Marker-Assisted Breeding

Disease Resistance Markers

We are able to test your lines by genetic markers. Our high-throughput SNP genotyping lab makes screening very quick and inexpensive and we can work with publicly available markers or proprietary markers.

We utilize either SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) markers, CAPS (cleaved amplified polymorphic sequences) markers, or SCAR (sequence characterized amplified regions) markers.

Genotyping by Amplicon Sequencing (GBAS)

Genotyping by Amplicon Sequencing (GBAS) is a targeted sequencing approach used to generate precise genotypic data for breeding programs, research applications, and quality control workflows. By sequencing specific genetic regions, GBAS enables accurate identification of markers associated with key traits.

At CSP Labs, GBAS supports marker-assisted breeding through both pre-existing breeding and quality control panels across multiple crops. Custom marker panels can also be developed to meet the needs of individual breeding programs.

Trait Markers and Custom Panels

We support marker-assisted selection for a variety of agronomically important traits beyond disease resistance. These can include yield potential, stress tolerance, fruit quality, and more. Our experienced molecular team can work with you to help develop a panel tailored to your breeding program.

Whether working with established markers or collaborating on the development of proprietary markers, our advanced SNP genotyping and molecular testing capabilities can allow for efficient trait selection to accelerate your breeding goals.
